A single visit
Today we made a visit to a town called La Campana. Our journey began at the horse coral early in the morn. Well, not to early. We each had a short lesson because my was a bit hipper from Cesar's attack. After a quick lesson we made our way into Carol and Harold's kitchen where we were heartily welcomed with bowls of soup to energize us on the journey to the village. It was lovely cabbage with chopped up potatoes. Delicious! We gathered up the necessary food supplies and up we went. We drove about 10 minutes then turned off into a dirt road. We traveled a little way up, stopped, got out, and armed ourselves with food to feed all the hungry people who lived at the small house. We walked through some bean plants and were once a again welcomed. The people lovingly took our food and were very grateful. They showed us around to let us look at the few projects in process. I got to see a little where they lived...and it was sad. They were not well off. There house was almost collapsed, and many animals were lingering around. Then they showed us there current kitchen. It was roughly around 5 ft. high (way to short) and was totally black. The fire was just a ring of rocks and there cups and plates looked like they had been found on the side of the road. It was horrid! And to believe this family was above average! After peeing at the kitchen, we headed out into a place a little more open where I so about 3 skinny-as-sticks dogs and cats that weighed only about 2 pounds. It looked like it had not been loved properly, which all animals need. I pet it gingerly for about 5 minutes and then it was time to go. We all said our goodbyes and headed out. We all looked back before making our way to the car. Finally as we went down the last road to get to the main road, I realized I was lucky to not be like that. I am a lot more grateful for everything now, and will try not to waste anything. It was a great experience. When I get back home, I am going to convince my mom to let us help fee the hungry.

Great post, Lindsay. You might want to proof read and edit. I think you meant that after "peeking" at the kitchen, not "peeing" at the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteGood job!
